Do you have a planning story you would like to share with the nation's practicing planners?

Practicing Planner is the quarterly publication for members of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). It is published electronically on the American Planning Association's website in March, June, September, and December. The many thousands of members of AICP receive notice by e-mail when the latest issue is published. In addition, although only AICP members can access all parts of the publication, anyone can access and read the lead manuscript which is a "planning practice feature."

The editor is now recruiting manuscripts for Volume 7 (2009) of Practicing Planner. We publish three regular types of manuscripts: Planning Practice Features (usually 1,500 to 2,500 words), Case Studies (5,500+ words), and Planning Essentials pieces (which focus on the "how to" techniques of planning). We have a particular need for case studies. We are open to other types of articles and are receptive in particular to pieces about professional development, ethics, and social equity. Submissions from academicians with a focus on planning practice are also encouraged. Case studies and some of the other manuscripts are subject to peer review.

The American Planning Association pays honoraria for successful publication; the amount of honorarium depends on the type of article. If you have a story idea or manuscript, or you would like to receive more guidance in the form of editorial guidelines, please feel free to contact me by e-mail. Thanks for your consideration.
