APA Chapters

Chapters get you involved in APA close to home. They're your local source for networking and professional development. You'll share experiences with colleagues and broaden your perspective beyond your commission or office. When you join APA, you automatically become a member of your local chapter.

Most chapters offer an annual conference, educational workshops, AICP exam preparation courses, and a newsletter. Many chapters also conduct legislative programs, sponsor planning commissioner training workshops, and conduct public information campaigns.

Many chapters and sections offer websites as a resource for their members. Visit your local chapter's site to catch up on the latest planning information in your region.

Many chapters offer exam counseling — both group and one-to-one — for those preparing to take the AICP written examination. If you'd like help in preparing for the exam, please contact the PDO in your chapter area.

APA's Legislative Network is made up of legislative liaisons from each APA Chapter. If you're interested in federal or state legislation in your state, this network will help you contact your legislative liaison or liaisons from other states.

APA's policy staff uses the network to keep APA's chapters up to date on federal legislation important to planners. In addition, if action is needed to promote or stop a particular bill, an alert is sent through the network asking APA members to contact their federal or state legislators.
